“New versus Old”

Our Wine and Food Dinner at Bellota in May was another great success, and we are expecting our August event to follow the pattern. Our theme for the August dinner will be “New versus Old” and where better to experience this than a celebrated French bistro in the heart of Melbourne.

The release of a new model Porsche tends to be an exciting event for many hard-core Porsche enthusiasts. We immediately dive into the technical specifications of the new release GT3 and then head straight to the web to watch the first videos. However, there are many Porsche owners who pay no attention whatsoever to the hype – they own and love a 1984 911 Carrera 3.2 and would choose it any day of the week over a 2022 911 Carrera driven mainly by microprocessors. The choice is a matter of personal taste.

At our August event we will ask the same question of wine: Which do you prefer – old world wine (French, Italian, etc) or new (Australian, New Zealand, etc). Our dinner will take place at Chancery Lane where members will be able to enjoy the comparison. Housed in the historic Normanby Chambers building, Chancery Lane is Scott Pickett’s classic bistro with an edge. The interior echoes a decadent, bygone era, the menu sees a list of classic dishes with a modern touch using the finest seasonal ingredients and varying European techniques.

In our private dining room, we will enjoy a four-course selection of modern dishes paired with both Australian and French wines. The perfect setting to compare wines built on hundreds of years of tradition with wines showing the benefits of modernity, flexibility and an unfettered approach. Which will you prefer?

This event promises to be another wonderful PCV social evening and places are strictly limited. Singles and couples are very welcome.
